Let God Take Over

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28

“Stop trying to do it on your own.  Stop trying to do everything in your own strength.”—I hear God whispering those very phrases into my ear.  Why do I keep trying to go this life alone?  Why do I try to make my own plans?  God is the one in control, He is the one who has all the strength and wisdom.  And the best part is, He isn’t selfish; He gives us strength, wisdom, and rest, we just have to ask for it.

If you are like me today, give all your  burdens, stresses, worries, and long to-do lists over to God.  He is the one in control of your life; lean on Him for guidance and strength because if you try to do it on your own, you will be left weary and exhausted.  He promises to give us rest and take our burdens, but we have to take that first step of faith.  If you are having a difficult week full of worries and stresses.  If you keep trying to carry your sins, regrets, and past with you.  Give all of it over to God.  Once you release all of your burdens, God will restore you and fill you with incredible strength and peace.

Let’s stop trying to do everything on our own.  It is time we let God take over!

Just like me not wanting to wait to eat the pie, in life we  don’t like to wait and we want things to happen right away.  If you are anything like me, I struggle with patience and waiting.   God is teaching me a lot about being patient and waiting on His timing. But, God has a plan and that plan includes His perfect timing.  This means we can’t have everything work out the way we want, when we want it to work out.  God knows better than we do. Trusting God in the Big Stuff, the Little Stuff and the In-Between Stuff

I struggle with anxiety like many of you.  I worry about my future.  Will I get a good job someday?  Will I do well in college?  Did I pick the right major?  Will all my needs be provided for?  Numerous times in the Bible God talks about worry.  In my Bible, every passage of scripture dealing with anxiety and worrying is highlighted, underlined, and starred in hopes of me reading it and getting the memo: stop worrying! God’s in Control

The past few weeks I have learned some important lessons:

  1. Don’t eat questionable chinese food
  2. Study harder for statistics’ tests
  3. (Most important lesson)–Turn your worries over to God, and not just one or two worries, all of your worries.

God is using my struggle with eczema (itchy, red skin condition) to teach me.  Lately I have been having a really bad flare-up, which is probably due to dry, wintery air and stress caused by demanding classes.   [Read more...]
