After watching Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax, I found a quote that reminded me how important it is for us to make a difference for Christ. I wrote about it in an earlier post, but I felt like I needed to expand on the topic of loving your neighbor.
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
If we don’t help, who will? We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and we cannot ignore that call. Sometimes we get busy in our daily life and say, “I am too busy, that’s somebody else’s job to help that person.” If God has called you to act, it is your job to listen and help.
I am reminded of the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10: 25-37. When asked by a man how a person receives eternal life, Jesus responded in verse 27. “He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” In verse 29, the man asks who his neighbor was.
