Rare Disease Day

I was looking on Facebook today and I found out that today is Rare Disease Day.  During my junior year of high school I developed RSD (Reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome) in my foot.  RSD is actually on the list of rare diseases.  It is also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

“Reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome (RSDS), also known as complex regional pain syndrome, is a rare disorder of the sympathetic nervous system that is characterized by chronic, severe pain.” NORD

When I got RSD, I was in a lot of pain and my foot was experiencing color and temperature changes.  After a few months, my foot even started to turn blue.  It took four doctors and multiple doctor visits until I was finally diagnosed with RSD.   [Read more...]
