Why Don’t We Encourage One Another?

You might think I am a little crazy, but my cough drop wrappers have encouraging words on them.  I know I have a cold, but really I am not feverish.  My mom was gracious enough to pick up some Halls cough drops today.  As I unwrapped my cough drop I noticed the wrapper said stuff like “You got it in you; keep your chin up; tough is your middle name; get back in the game…”  It got me thinking, what if the only encouraging words a person heard or saw in a day came from their cough drop wrapper?  How often do we encourage one another?  Do we ever go a whole day without encouraging those around us?

Encouragement can go along ways.  So many of us are good about hiding our pain, sadness, and struggles from those around us.  In a given day, you might meet somebody who is hurting and struggling and you might not even know it.  But, what if you encouraged that person?  How would their life be affected?  A simple hello, a kind smile, and an encouraging hug can make a world of difference.

Let’s make it our mission to encourage those around us.  Encouragement is powerful, and God calls us to encourage and build up those around us.

”Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 NASB

If a cough drop can encourage somebody, surely we can, right?  Try and encourage someone today, and see what  a difference it can make!

Beautiful! Here’s wishing you a quick bounceback on that cold, and to continuing to lift your pen (or fingertips on the keyboard!), and letting the magic flow …

  2. Very insightful! I don’t know if you’re a part of it, but I *love* (in)courage for this very reason. My soul needs it.

Hello Ma’am, I found your message about keeping it in me, my chin up, and my back in the game very enlightening.
