God’s Not Dead Tour is a Must See!

My mom and I had the privilege to see the God’s Not Dead Tour this week!  It was a blessing to have a wonderful night of worship.  I got to see some of my favorite Christian bands and I even got to meet some of them! The Newsboys, Anthem Lights, The City Harmonic, and Abandon performed that night.  Also, Bob Lenz, a Christian speaker and advocate for Compassion International spoke.  He has such a heart for telling others about Jesus and advancing the Gospel.  I was thrilled that he supports Compassion International and that he urged others to sponsor children. Seeing all the people rush to the Compassion booth filled me with joy!  The best part of the night was seeing many people come to know Jesus as their personal Savior. Praise God! [Read more...]

Joy in Worship

Last night my mom and I went to the Newsboys’ God’s Not Dead Tour.  It was a blessing to have such a wonderful night of worship!  When we got to the concert, we sat in our seats and I noticed a group of three older ladies sitting in the seat next to us.  I got to thinking, “Are they going to like this music?  Won’t it be too loud or too rocky for them?”

Just as the concert began, the trio of grandmas got to their feet and began singing, dancing, and praising God.  During the concert, I noticed that some of the kids and the other adults around me sat there, not dancing or singing.  I looked over to the ladies next to me, and they were standing up and singing at the top of their lungs–what a beautiful sight! Newboys God’s Not Dead Tour

I am getting so excited; tomorrow my mom and I are going to the Newsboys concert!  I can’t wait to see the God’s Not Dead Tour.  My mom shares my love of Christian music, so I am thrilled to  bring her along.  After having a few weeks of stressful tests, I am looking forward to relaxing and seeing some of my favorite bands.  The Newsboys are bringing along some of my other favorite bands: The City Harmonic, Anthem Lights, and Abandon.  Also, Bob Lenz is going to speak; I haven’t had the opportunity to hear him speak, so that will be great!  Even more exciting, is that the charity close to my heart, Compassion International, is going to be represented at the concert.

Unless We, Who Will?

After watching Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax, I found a quote that reminded me how important it is for us to make a difference for Christ.  I wrote about it in an earlier post, but I felt like I needed to expand on the topic of loving your neighbor.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

If we don’t help, who will? We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and we cannot ignore that call. Sometimes we get busy in our daily life and say, “I am too busy, that’s somebody else’s job to help that person.”  If God has called you to act, it is your job to listen and help.

I am reminded of the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10: 25-37.  When asked by a man how a person receives eternal life, Jesus responded in verse 27.  “He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”  In verse 29, the man asks who his neighbor was.  [Read more...]

The Muppets Out on DVD!

I watched, The Muppets, when it was in theaters last fall.  I actually saw it three times and that is when I began my Muppets obsession.  Yesterday, The Muppets came out on DVD, and I was dying to get it.  I borrowed my brother’s car and drove to Walmart to pick up the movie.  My friends hadn’t seen the movie, so being a good friend I forced them to watch it. The Lorax

I finally got to see The Lorax with my little cousin and older cousin.  And to top it off, we got to see it in 3D!  I have grown up reading Dr. Seuss books and I loved the last movie, Horton Hears a Who. The Lorax was a cute movie, and it had a lot of lessons and messages in it.  I know people criticize the political messages, but I tried not to focus too much on that.  I enjoyed the fact that some big actors/actresses were the voices in the movie: Betty White, Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, Ed Helms, and Danny DeVito.

I have a few favorites parts in the movie, but I loved the quote the once-ler (Ed Helms) said.  He was encouraging the Ted (Zac Efron) to help make a difference.

Enjoying Life’s Simple Blessings

Sometimes we get so busy in our daily life that we forget life’s simple blessings.  I am reflecting on life’s simple blessings.  This week we had record high temperatures and it was such a blessing to be able to enjoy the warm weather.  Everyday while I was walking to class, I praised God for brining such beautiful days to campus.  I ate outside and did homework outside which would never happen during a normal March day.  I even convinced my friends to go with me to the park; we had a lot of fun reliving our childhood, even if I almost got stuck in a tire swing! Join Royal Tailor in Helping Our Generation

I recently discovered Royal Tailor and they are one of my favorite bands.  I love the song “Hold Me Together” on their album, Black & White. Their lyrics are beautifully written and they have a heart for helping our struggling generation.   Today I learned about their Get Schooled Tour.  Royal Tailor has such heart for the young people of our generation that are hurting and in need of a Savior.  They want to go to schools and share hope with the students and community.  When they spend time in those communities, they want to share the Gospel through their music. Let My Life Be the Proof

I just added For King & Country’s new record, Crave, to my Rdio account, and I am loving every minute of listening to it!  I already had their EP and was in love with “Busted Heart.”  One song in particular stuck out to me today, “The Proof of You Love.”   I played it for an hour straight!  The song reminds me to show love to those around me because as Christians we are called to be God’s light in the dark world.  There are hurting people all around us that desperately need to be shown love and to hear about a loving Savior.  They are crying out for use to reach out to them and show them God’s love.   [Read more...]

Learning to Wait

Yesterday my friends and I made a delicious apple pie.  My friend read the directions and it said to let it cool for two hours.  I said “I can’t wait for two hours; I don’t want to wait to eat it!”  How could I wait to do something I really wanted to do—eat some delicious pie?  This reminded me of what I have been learning about in my InTouch magazine.  This month’s InTouch is called “Waiting on God.”

Just like me not wanting to wait to eat the pie, in life we  don’t like to wait and we want things to happen right away.  If you are anything like me, I struggle with patience and waiting.   God is teaching me a lot about being patient and waiting on His timing. But, God has a plan and that plan includes His perfect timing.  This means we can’t have everything work out the way we want, when we want it to work out.  God knows better than we do.
